New Sierra Club film touts benefits of locally-grown food
Sierra Club has produced a 15-minute animated video to inform the
general public about the benefits of buying organic and locally-grown
food. The lighthearted animation, called "The True Cost of
Food," is being used by the Club's National Sustainable Consumption
Committee to introduce discussions of the environmental costs of
agribusiness and factory farming.
In the video, a shopper gets transported from a magical supermarket
checkstand staffed with a straight-talking checker to the dark side
of the food industry where she sees how factory farms pollute the
air and water.
Readers can download the humorous video at www.truecostoffood.org.
Check it out. And let us know if it influences you to buy more organic
and locally-grown foods.
